| trendy/on trend | popular, in fashion, something that many young people wear | ‘Are bootleg jeans trendy again? I just got used to skinny jeans.’ |
| suits you | fits your sense of style, looks good on you | ‘I don’t think this colour suits me- do you think it makes me look pale?’ |
| waterproof | water can’t go through it, good for rainy weather | ‘These shoes are waterproof so I can wear them in the rain.’ |
| flattering | makes you look good, and looks good on you | ‘That dress is really flattering. It makes your legs look amazing!’ |
| tailored | cut and sewed to fit you perfectly | ‘I need to get these pants tailored- they’re too long.’ |
| to try something on | put something on to see if it fits | ‘Make sure to try those shoes on before you buy them. Make sure they fit.’ |
| take something back | return something to the store because it doesn’t suit your purpose | ‘I need to take these shoes back to the shop because they don’t fit.’ |
| get a great deal | get a very good price on something | ‘I got a great deal on this coat! It was 50% off!’ |
| touque | a knitted winter cap. This word is used specifically in Canada for this kind of hat | ‘Make sure you wear your toque when you go skiing!’ |
| knock your socks off | impress you/someone | ‘The new iPhone will knock your socks off- it’s so fast!’ |
| keep your shirt on | please wait, don’t be in such a rush | ‘I’m coming! Keep your shirt on!’ |
