Phrasal Verbs and Idioms

Phrasal Verb and Idiom Friday!

Do you have any pets? Today’s phrasal verbs and idioms are all about taking care of animals. I have a little one-eyed dachshund, called Sammy. He’s pretty awesome.

Sammy likes to pig out on chicken whenever he gets the opportunity, and he’s spoiled rotten by my parents, so he gets a lot of chicken!

He often gets the lion’s share of the couch, but I don’t mind sharing with him. He seems to always know how to make me smile, and he loves to go for walks around the neighbourhood.

What kind of pet do you have?

  • to take care of: to help an animal or another human to live a healthy and happy life, to provide another living creature with what it needs to live
  • pig out: eat too much
  • spoiled rotten: given everything that you want in excess
  • the lion’s share: most of, the majority of something
