Phrasal Verbs and Idioms

Phrasal Verb and Idiom Friday!

Today’s phrasal verb and idiom Friday is brought to you by my current Netflix binge. I’ve been rewatching The Blacklist, and although sometimes the storyline seems to go round in circles, it’s a guilty pleasure that I can’t seem to do without at the moment.

There is something incredibly soothing about James Spader’s dulcet tones, and the ridiculous situations his character manages to wriggle his way out of that keeps me watching, week after week.

Do you have a favourite show that you’d recommend?

  • to blacklist someone: to say that someone is not allowed in a place or in places
  • to go round in circles: to continue in a circular way, to have no direct stopping point
  • dulcet tones: I don’t think this is actually an idiom, but it means soft/sweet/soothing sounds
  • to wriggle your way out of: find a way to escape from/find a way to get out of a situation
