Phrasal Verb and Idiom Friday!

Happy February! February is the one month that feels much longer than it’s 28 days for me. Sometimes it feels like time has slowed to a crawl but I think I mainly blame that on the weather.

Short cold days and long cold nights have me hankering for a nice warm sunny beach somewhere. I know I’m not the only Canadian to feel this way. Quite a few snowbirds head south for the winter if they can, and I don’t blame them one bit!

If you need me, I’ll be curled up with a good book, under many blankets! What do you like to do when you feel cold?

  • slow to a crawl: go from being very fast to very very slow, almost not moving
  • to blame something on something/someone: to say that a consequence is the fault of a specific person or thing
  • hankering for: crave, to have a strong desire or want for something
  • head south for the winter: go to a warm place in a southern country in the winter
  • snowbirds: people who go somewhere warm in the winter to escape their cold surroundings
  • to curl up: to make your body smaller by bringing your knees and arms closer to your body.
