Phrasal Verbs and Idioms

Phrasal Verb and Idiom Friday!

We’re one week into 2023! How’s it going? Have you stuck to those resolutions you made last week?

After a few weeks of indulging in all of your favourite foods, you may be thinking of eating a bit more healthily, so I thought some food idioms might be quite fun for this week!

Now, maybe you have bigger fish to fry than to worry about what you eat, but there’s a lot of reading on how we don’t get enough fibre in our diets and how helpful this can be for our overall health. If nothing else, you should make sure you’re getting enough green leafy vegetables!

I have a pretty big sweet tooth and I find this often means I can be found snacking on chocolates or drinking sweetened teas. I’ve cut back on these a lot these last few months, though I’m always looking for a replacement!

What do you suggest? What sweet things do you like to eat?

  • stick to something: continue to do something, not stop doing something, stay close to something
  • bigger fish to fry: bigger problems to worry about/ more important things to think about
  • to be getting enough: to eat the correct amount, to obtain the correct amount
  • to have a sweet tooth: to like to eat sweet food.
  • snacking on: to eat in small amounts in between meals
  • cut back (on): to consume/eat/do less
